Sharodiya Subecha to you and your family members.
A big thank you to all Deshantari members for their whole hearted support and cooperation for helping us successfully stage in person Durga Puja and Laxmi Puja. Right from the time we were able to secure the hall (about three weeks before Durga Puja) to the time when the idols were taken away to storage for safe keeping, the incredible effort by members of all the committees associated with the pujas have made it possible in such a short time frame to seamlessly stage our greatest festival, may this spirit of togetherness and camaraderie continue to invigorate us in all our future events.
We cannot but mention a few of the groundbreaking events during Durga Puja this year. First and foremost among them was performing of the Maha Ashtami puja by an all-women’s team and the Maha Nabami and Dashami puja being performed by non-Brahmins. Efforts are on to highlight these feats in various social and print media platforms. The featuring of our Durga Puja on ABP Ananda as well as the live CBC interview by our president, Dr. Anindya Choudhury, helped to spread the word about Deshantari Durga Puja among the general public in Canada as well as overseas.
Continuing with the spirit of Durga Puja we are organizing a virtual ‘Sharod Sammelani’ programme on Saturday, October 30, at 8 PM. It will feature various cultural contributions by Deshantari members and has been painstakingly put together by Mala Nag and Debasree Banerjee, a big thank you for their efforts.
